Project Manager/
Real Estate/Immobilier

Status: Permanent / Full time (35 hours/week)

Direct supervisor: Assistant Director, Real Estate and Renovation

Location: Kuujjuaq

The Nunavik Housing Bureau (NHB), is responsible for managing and operating a pool of +/-4,000 social housing units in the Kativik region, spread across fourteen (14) villages. The NHB is looking for renovation/construction project managers throughout its territory. With the aim of offering comfortable, safe and affordable homes adapted to Inuit needs and culture, and to contribute to community development.

FUNCTION:

You are responsible for carrying out, coordinating and managing all activities related to the projects assigned to you. You carry out technical and administrative activities related to your projects.  In your role, you supervise the day-to-day activities related to the work sites assigned to you. You collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the organization of the various facets of projects. You play an advisory role with the various managers to promote optimal management of the projects under your control.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define, plan, organize and inspect maintenance/renovation/construction projects and mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment changes.
  • Prepare specifications for the selection of contractors/suppliers and the purchase of materials.
  • Produce and commission technical documents required for project planning.
  • Maintain communication with subcontractors.
  • Establish project follow-up and quality control sheets.
  • Produce periodic progress reports.
  • Participate, on request, in the development and updating of policies, systems, standards and procedures relating to their area of activity, and ensure their application.
  • Prepare end-of-project reports comparing estimates and actual costs.

 
PROFILE 

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in building engineering.
  • Training in project management

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

  • At least three (3) years of professional experience.
  • Significant experience in project management.
  • Experience working in a multicultural and municipal environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Inuit population and the northern environment (an asset).
  • Intermediate computer and Internet skills.

Any other combination of training and experience could be considered.

  • Ability to analyze issues, relationships and impacts, enabling optimal decision-making.
  • Ability to work under pressure on a variety of projects while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Recognized for open-mindedness and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in two of three languages (English, French and Inuktitut).
