The Nunavik Housing Bureau (NHB), is responsible for managing and operating a pool of +/-4,000 social housing units in the Kativik region, spread across fourteen (14) villages. With the aim of offering comfortable, safe and affordable homes adapted to Inuit needs and culture, and to contribute to community development.
FUNCTION:
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) plays a key role in shaping our workplace culture. Working closely with managers and teams, this person helps build strong HR programs and initiatives that improve recruitment, onboarding, retention, and performance management.
The HRBP keeps an eye on HR best practices and helps develop policies, processes, and tools that make a real impact on our employees’ experience.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a go-to person for managers, providing guidance on HR programs, policies, performance management, and talent development.
- Oversee work accidents and insurance claims, employee benefits, vacation banks, sick days, and more.
- Keep HR records up to date, ensuring smooth tracking of new hires, probations, and tenure confirmations.
- Handle administrative tasks related to hiring, absences, and terminations.
- Support employees and managers with workplace issues, offering solutions and managing resolution processes.
- Analyze data on compensation, work conditions, staffing, and workplace safety to make informed recommendations.
- Track HR performance indicators (retention, employee experience, talent management) and suggest improvements.
- With the HR team, ensure HR practices align across all 14 villages.
- Lead the full recruitment process, from attracting candidates to onboarding and post-probation evaluations.
- Plan for the organization’s current and future HR needs to support growth.
PROFILE
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
- A bachelor’s degree in HR, industrial relations, or business administration (a college diploma (DEC) with extra experience may be considered).
- Ideally 5+ years in a similar HR role.
- A strong understanding of HR functions, policies, and strategic planning.
Any other combination of training and experience could be considered.
SKILLS:
- A natural people leader who builds strong relationships.
- Problem-solving mindset with great analytical skills.
- Team player with excellent communication skills in English and French (Inuktitut is a bonus!).
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office.
