Legal Technician/
Services Client Services

Status: Permanent, Full Time, 35hrs/week

 FUNCTION & RESPONSABILITIES

 Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Client Services, the employee must assist the Housing Manager in all activities related to the administration of Client Services with the tenants of the NHB through providing general services. More specifically the employee has the following duties:

  • Welcoming tenants, applicants and visitors. Provide information and/or assistance whenever requested (applications, account balances, NHB information, etc.)
  • Gather information and create Subleases and Leases.
  • Issue Work Orders when tenants, Maintenance staff or NHB reports problems. Follow up with Maintenance when needed.
  • Analyze data pertaining to tenants and rent arrears; prepare appropriate lists and reports.
  • Prepare the demands for the Quebec Rental Board.
  • Follow up on the Quebec Rental Board decisions, both inside and outside NHB (tenants, Client Services, outside legal counsel).
  • Work closely with the Community Coordinator, the Housing Managers and the Assistant or Director of Client Services to plan an eviction process.
  • Plan and execute the eviction process.
  • Draft and prepare letters, notices, public announcements related to visits into the tenants’ houses (renovation projects, inspections, studies, etc.)
  • Send out correspondence when needed and make sure to respect application delays.
  • Contact the Housing Managers to inform them of renovation projects, inspections, etc.
  • Send out Lease Renewal notices and other correspondence as needed.
  • Meet with the Assistant or the Director of Client Services and other departments as needed.
  • Assist the Client Services department with any other task when requested.

POSITION REQUIREMENT

  • Secondary V Diploma, or experience.
  • Must be reliable / punctual / flexible / organized / positive / confident.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong oral and written communications.
  • Capacity to be a member of a dynamic team.
  • Participate in setting-up given departmental initiatives.
  • Must have 2 or 3 languages (Inuktitut, English and / or French).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Willing to travel.
